The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) plays a critical role in educational institutions by ensuring a consistent focus on quality enhancement. It was introduced by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in India to foster a culture of quality in higher education institutions.
Objectives of IQAC
- To ensure continuous improvement in the overall performance of the institution.
- To promote measures for institutional functioning toward quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture.
- To develop a system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic action to improve academic and administrative performance.
- To institutionalize best practices in the teaching-learning and administrative processes.
- To enhance stakeholder engagement and align institutional activities with the needs and expectations of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community.
- To improve the quality of institutional activities, ensuring accountability and transparency.
Functions of IQAC
- Development and application of quality benchmarks for various academic and administrative activities.
- Facilitating a learner-centric environment to promote quality education and faculty engagement.
- Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents, and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes.
- Organization of workshops and seminars on quality-related themes and the promotion of quality circles.
- Documentation of quality improvement programs and initiatives and serving as a repository of institutional data.
- Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) to be submitted to NAAC based on quality parameters.
- Dissemination of information on quality parameters in higher education to promote awareness within the institution.
- Encouraging collaboration and partnerships with other institutions for quality improvement and research.
